A campaign to stamp out racism in football is set to get a boost thanks to a partnership between police and Colchester United.
The Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football campaign was launched earlier this year by the Association of Chief Police Officers and a second wave of campaigning will run from toda to October 28.
Colchester United has joined forces with police to promote the campaign and plans to show its support at their home game against Barnsley on Friday, October 29.
The club will be printing a special message in the match programmes and leaflets and badges supplied by Kick It Out, a non-profit-making organisation, will also be handed out.
The game will also be policed using CCTV equipment and stewards and marshals are to be briefed on the initiative and the handling of racial incidents.
Matt Hudson, of Colchester United, said the team was glad to get behind the campaign despite not having particular problems with its fans.
