A firm of Southend solicitors which has had its roots in the town since the late 1890s is set to close at the end of the month.
Staff at Jervis Jerman Solicitors in Clarence Street are busy packing their bags following the retirement of the firm's senior partner Lawrence Jervis.

It will bring to an end a long association with the seaside town which has seen the partnership change names over several generations.
It is understood Mr Jervis, who joined the partnership about 15 years ago, will be seeking a quiet retirement at his Essex home.
The company used to employ up to 30 staff in its heyday but during the past year the numbers have dwindled.
John Ruse, office manager, who lives in Hadleigh, said: "Mr Jervis has decided it was time to retire and that means the end of the road for the firm.
