A new campaign is being launched in Tendring in the ongoing fight against car crime.
A special roadshow is being staged over two days and advice and information will be available on how to prevent vehicles being stolen or broken into.
Police crime prevention officers and Neighbourhood Watch representatives will be on hand at an exhibition caravan at the coach park in Marine Parade West on Wednesday and the following Tuesday.
Operation Portway, as it has been named, will run from 3pm to 8pm on each occasion.
An average of seven cars are stolen each week across the Tendring division.
The number of vehicles broken into and items stolen averages out at 20 per week.
There will also be a free property marking service for all audio equipment fitted into cars and vans.
The campaign has been timed to support a two-week Crimestoppers initiative, which begins on Monday and will operate across the whole county.
"I hope motorists will take advantage of the free marking opportunity," Supt Dick Madden said
