Thorpe Hall professional Bill McColl smashed the Basildon course record with a 64 to win the top pro prize in the new town club's annual pro-am.
He left the rest of the field trailing in his wake as he collected the Bill Paterson Cup, awarded for the best pro score.
Leading team were Basildon club members John Carless, Ricky Newman and Orsett's Steve Rooney, with pro Nick Moncur. They finished 16 under par.
Runners-up were pro Graham Stone with Billy Box, Jason Renton, and Robert Eales.
Basildon's attempt to win the national public course championship for the Clapham Common Shield for a seventh time failed as they finished seven points behind in the final at Birchwood in Surrey.
