A woman was cut free from the wreckage of her car after a collision with a tipper lorry.
Firefighters from Orsett and Grays worked for 45 minutes to free the victim from her Suzuki Swift in Linford before she could be taken to hospital. An air ambulance was called but was not used.
The accident happened in Buckingham Hill Road at around 1pm. An Essex Police spokeswoman said the road was closed for around an hour, as was Walton Hall Road and Northumberland Road.
Orsett fire station officer Dave Barrett said: "We had crews from Orsett and Grays, plus the Grays rescue tender and its hydraulic equipment."
