Do you know an unsung hero who has shown amazing dedication to the selfless service of others?
Now there is an opportunity for the people of Brentwood to say a special thank you to some of our outstanding residents.
Brentwood Borough Council is inviting nominations for the borough's prestigious Civic Awards 2002.
Civic Awards are presented annually by the council to the borough's most deserving citizens singled out by their peers.
Last year paramedic Garry Clark from the Essex Air Ambulance Service, Boys Brigade leader Derek Powell and WRVS worker Evelyn Shepherd, caring charity worker Kathleeen Button and church stalwart Charles Steynor were among those picked out as stars of the community.
Other heroes have been from the world of the arts, including musician Angela Harris, and those who have shown unusual bravery and courage.
The awards panel is made up of representatives from all walks of life including the church, schools, police and emergency services, sports, arts business, the media, voluntary organisations and local councillors.
The awards will be presented by the Mayor of Brentwood Cllr Derek Hardy at a glittering ceremony at the council's annual civic dinner next March.
So if you would like the town to officially salute your unsung hero send your nomination to Brentwood Council at the Town Hall in Ingrave Road, Brentwood. Special forms are available from the Information Centre at 44 High Street, Brentwood, or call the council on 01277 261111.
