A controversial plan to knock down a village pub and build a supermarket on the site has been dumped.
Around 200 South Green residents cheered as German firm Aldi's scheme to reduce the Burstead Plough to rubble and put a foodstore on top was kicked out by planners.
Shopkeepers and homeowners packed into South Green Memorial Hall, Billericay, to hear councillors denounce the application.
