Sam Stockley says he won't believe his luck if Oxford United let him leave on a free transfer and added today he would love to join Colchester United.
And the popular 25-year-old utility man, who cost the club £150,000 just over a year ago, is hoping Colchester United don't miss out on Oxford's generosity.
Stockley has just two weeks to run on his current loan spell at Layer Road and the lively former Southampton and Barnet man is eager to make his stay permanent.
He told the Evening Gazette today: "Make no bones about it, I'd love to sign for Colchester and to hear that Oxford won't want a fee for me is absolutely tremendous news.
"I'd love the chance to stay at Colchester. All the lads have made me feel very welcome. Everyone has accepted me and I'm very happy."
