Castle Point Council has introduced a race equality scheme to ensure decisions made will be judged on how much they promote racial equality in the area.
The aims of the project are to eliminate unlawful racial discrimination, promote equal opportunities and promote good relations between people.
Members of the central services committee have agreed to publish the scheme and develop a general equality strategy.
In the future councillors and officers will liaise with each other to ensure there is a continuous three year cycle of assessment and monitoring of racial equality.
