A PDSA shop opening next month is appealing to the community for donations and offers of voluntary help.
The shop in East Walk, Basildon, relies on donations of quality goods to raise funds for pets in need.
Manager Karen Dawson said: "Items of clothing, bric-a-brac, books, jewellery and toys will all be gratefully received."
PDSA Basildon is also looking for volunteers to staff the shop, which opens on November 8. No experience is needed.
For more details, call the PDSA national centre on freephone 0800 854194, or Karen on 01268 282893.
The People's Dispensary for Sick Animals has also started building a new pet hospital in Vange.
