A man who suffered severe head injuries after a disturbance at a Canvey shop has been transferred to a London hospital for treatment.
The 31-year-old was first taken to Southend Hospital after the incident at Autogear Transmission in the island's High Street.
However he has since been moved to the capital.
Officers and paramedics were called to the scene at around 2pm on Monday to find the shop's windows had been smashed and one man seriously hurt.
Two local men, a 55-year-old and a 38-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
