Controversial plans to refurbish South Woodham Ferrers' Salvation Army Hall are due to finally go before Chelmsford Council planners tonight.
The proposals have been repeatedly delayed after angry residents objected to certain parts of the plans.
Under the renovation scheme, the Hullbridge Road hall would be extended and three three-bedroom houses would be erected on the site. Officers have recommended that the plans be approved.
