Hockley's historic Spa building in Spa Road could be set for a new lease of life.
Planning permission has been granted to build four new homes next to the former pumproom and the developers now want to demolish modern extensions to the original building which is grade two listed by the Government.
Rochford district councillors are being recommended to approve the propsals and head of planning Shaun Scrutton said the modern additions had been built without any reference to the design and character of the original building.
Developers are planning to retain the original 19th century pump room, which is built to a classical design and is to be restored for either commercial or residential use.
