Southend United's young guns make the trip to Bournemouth tonight in search of FA Youth Cup first round glory.

Blues' babes travel to Dean Court for a 7.30pm kick-off and Shrimpers coach Marc Massey labelled the clash as "one of the biggest games of their lives".

"This is a massive match for the boys and they've been looking forward to it ever since they first walked through the door at Roots Hall," said Southend's youth team boss.

"The glamour and history of this cup says it all really and the players can't wait to tackle Bournemouth.

"This will be the biggest game of some of these players' lives and they want to make the most of it."

Massey said he was confident his fledglings could make progress in a competition which is for under-18 players.

Some club sides get caught short by the age barrier, having to select from their under-17 and 19 teams, but Massey said Blues were looking strong.

"The cut-off point doesn't really trouble us as most of our boys come within the age limit," he said.

"We are only without one player -- defender Daniel Lunan who is on the fringe of the first team.

"But we still have a lot of experience in the side."
