A south Essex school has been taken out of special measures after dramatic improvements.
Two years after the Ockendon School was put in the same class as failing schools in the borough, staff, pupils and parents are celebrating after inspectors highlighted their achievements.
Barbara King, headteacher, said: "Learning has always been at the heart of the school and to be told by inspectors that we have won the hearts of the children who come here is wonderful.
"Students, staff, parents and governors have all worked extremely hard to make the school succeed and it's that team effort which has helped us reach today's position.
"I am very proud of all the staff and students.
"Coming out of special measures is just one step along the road of continuous improvement - we still have work to do."
