Five of Thurrock's libraries will be helping celebrate Black History Month with a series of events aimed at entertaining young people during half term.
Staff from the council's library and cultural services departments have linked up with Trust - the Thurrock Racial Unity Support Task group - to provide a programme of entertainment and storytelling.
The fun starts on Wednesday, October 23, in Belhus Library, Derry Avenue, South Ockendon, at 10am when there will be drama and fun activities provided by the Many-moons Theatre of Myth, Folklore and Magic.
The same group will be at Corringham library in St John's Way from 2pm with their show, which is aimed at children in the six to nine-year-old age group.
The following day the Agape Theatre group will be at Chadwell St Mary library in Brentwood Road from 2pm with puppets, storytelling and a talk on black history with a target audience of eight to 11-year-olds.
Then, on Saturday, October 26, at 10am, two groups of Trust members will be hosting storytelling sessions in the library in Orsett Road, Grays, and the library at Chafford Hundred Campus in Mayflower Road, Grays.
All the activities are free and will last for around 90 minutes.
Places for the events are limited and anybody interested in attending is asked to contact the library hosting the event to secure a ticket.
