Thurrock found themselves 7-0 down within a minute and were always facing an uphill struggle.
That opening score was a breakaway try and come the end of the first half they would come to rue two further scores at bad times.
A fourth midway through the second period came as Thurrock trailed 21-15 and were putting the hosts under pressure.
After Diss went 14-0 up in the first half, Craig White crossed the line near the posts and Dave Martindale converted. Chris Banks added a second-half try and Steve Morritt a penalty as Tees threatened a fightback.
