Youngster Jim Harman capped his debut with the clinching try as Basildon bounced back from last week's defeat.
Brentwood fielded their traditional big pack and got on the scoreboard early with a try.
But the new town front row of Luke Kirkup, Cesar Fernandez, Sean Dignam and Craig McClellan soon got on top and laid the platform for Basildon's win.
Winger John Hickey took advantage with a try, before some strong loose play set up skipper Gary Smith to power over. Jakob Van Der Westhuizen added a third as Basildon went into the break well on top.
Brentwood hit back with a converted try at the start of the second half, but tries from Rob Martin and Harman sealed the points.
Harman also out for the Colts as captain in a 13-5 defeat by Harwich and Dovercourt. Tyson Lewis got the try.
