Castle Point council is hoping to benefit from a £200,000 Government cash injection to help it "go electronic", it emerged today.
Members of the central services committee have given officers the green light to put in a bid for the money, which will go towards providing more council services electronically.
This will mean residents will be able to access information and services via their computers.
Consultants have been drafted in to help prepare the council's cash bid - and borough councillors have even been selected as "e-champions" to see the bid through.
