The streets of Castle Point will have more festive flavour this Christmas if councillors agree a proposed cash injection.
Labour council leader Dave Wells says an extra £15,000 would go a long way to improving the festive lights.
Councillors will consider reinstating the "festive light budget" at tonight's central services committee meeting.
Mr Wells wants £15,000 put towards lights in Canvey town centre, south Benfleet, Thundersley's Hart Road, Hadleigh and Tarpots.
He said: "Following complaints from members of the public, local businesses and shopkeepers something has got to be done because they don't like the fact there has been a decline in the borough's festive feel."
