Police today launched details of the getaway car believed to have been used in a ramraid on a Southend shop last week.
Burglars smashed a stolen JCB into the front of Londis in Southchurch Road early on Friday morning and stole a cash machine from inside.
It is believed they made off with it in a grey, K-reg Ford Granada with the lights off and the boot wide open.
Detectives, who are currently looking through CCTV tapes from the shop, believe somebody must have seen or heard what was going on.
Det Con Wayne Hallett, of the burglary squad at Southend police, said: "You can't miss someone driving a digger down the road at 3am in the morning, whether its lights are on or not.
"This was obviously planned as the JCB was stolen from Great Wakering, which is quite some distance away."
Anyone with any information on this crime is urged to contact Det Con Hallett on 01702 431212.
