Tots took their teddy bears to a sing-a-long nursery rhymes event in an effort to encourage parents to read books with children.

Children under five enjoyed songs and stories, tucked into birthday cake and were each given a free book at Southend library, in Victoria Avenue.
The event was organised as part of National Bookstart Day.
