Colchester United's 'Player Of The Century' Peter Wright is the latest name to confirm his attendance at the "An Evening With..." event at the Mercury Theatre this Sunday.

Wright's accolade came at the turn of the 21st Century, as the Evening Gazette's readers voted for him to top the poll ahead of such names as Mark Kinsella and Percy Ames.

And he also made the paper's Best Ever Eleven - some record given the faces that have turned out in the blue and white stripes over the years.

Left-winger Wright made 448 appearances for the U's between 1952 and 1964, scoring 98 goals. And with his inclusion, Sunday's Mercury Theatre event will encompass fifty years of Colchester United history.

Also from the fifties, there will be veteran defender Reg Stewart, who also confirmed his attendance on Tuesday. Stewart made 268 league and cup appearances for the U's between 1950 and 1957, after signing from Sheffield Wednesday. He eventually left the club to sign for non-league Clacton Town.

Micky Cook joins Wright in representing the 1960s (as a player), Dick Graham the 1970s, Steve Wignall (as a player!) the 1980s as well as a whole host of names from the 1990s - including the whole of the current U's squad.

Tickets are available from the Colchester United Club Shop on 01206 715309 or from the Mercury Theatre Box Office on 01206 573948.

Everyone that attends the event will receive TWO free terrace tickets for the game against Chesterfield on October 18th, as well as a two for one voucher for a Mercury Theatre production.

The evening starts at 6pm.
