A Thurrock councillor has hit out at the notice to quit given to the borough's allotment holders.

Earnshaw Palmer - who represents Chafford Hundred ward - said: "Despite its promises to listen to the views of allotmemnt plot holders, Thurrock Council's serving of termination notices has not been reassuring."

He said the council should have talked with the people using allotments before issuing the notices.
