Former Charlton Athletic striker Bradley Allen is training with Southend United.
The 30-year-old hitman was released by Grimsby Town during the summer after finding the net four times in 28 First Division games last term.
An ex-England under-21 international, Allen has also played for Queens Park Rangers and Colchester, scoring 52 goals in 205 League appearances.
But Blues boss Rob Newman said the forward was only linking up with the Shrimpers to keep his fitness levels up at this moment in time.
"Bradley has just come in to train with us," said Newman. "He has looked very sharp and bagged a great hat-trick in a practice match between the players yesterday.
"But at this moment in time he is only with us to keep fit."
