Residents in Clacton are joining the battle to attempt to change the proposed site for a new cardiac centre for Essex.
More than 100 householders have written in opposing plans to build the facility in Basildon because it will be too difficult to get to for people from Tendring.
They want the issue reviewed and hope they can add to pressure in a bid to force a rethink.
Health campaigner Roy Smith has leafleted homes in Clacton and Jaywick and is hoping for a big response.
"It is only a matter of days since I went round in an effort to get people's views on the issue and so far I have had more than 100 letters back," he said.
Mr Smith, who is an Essex county and Tendring district councillor, said everyone welcomed the idea of a centre and cannot wait for it to be built.
The only sticking point is where it will be sited.
Tendring Primary Care Trust has already raised concerns about Basildon, as has Tendring Health Action Group.
