Former Billericay MP Teresa Gorman has vowed to continue the fight for a consortium to buy the Orsett Hospital site for a "friendly" development.
Mrs Gorman, who lives in Orsett, is coordinating the village's efforts for a more community development at the site rather than an estate of 200 houses.
The village's bid has been rejected by the hospitals trust - but Mrs Gorman said it would be a "travesty of justice" if their bid was not presented to the board.
"The trust seems intent on steamrollering through a development of 200 houses which will overwhelm the village facilities and wipe out any chance of extra space on the site for much needed communal activities," she said.
