Youngsters spent a week clowning around and learning circus tricks at the annual Southend Summer School for Performing Arts.
Open to all budding performers aged eight and over, it attracted more than 200 children to Southend High School for Girls.

It was an ideal way for students to keep themselves busy with something unusual and fun during the school holidays.
The week's activities culminated in a varied performance attended by proud parents who were wowed by dance, drama and even plate-spinning.
