A hit-and-run driver who left two toddlers injured was today being hunted by police.
The two-year-old cousins, a boy and a girl, were taken to Southend Hospital after the incident in Ilfracombe Avenue, Southend, at 7.30pm last night.
The mother of one of the children looked on in horror as the car, thought to be a red Ford Fiesta, hit the children.
It failed to stop and was seen heading in the direction of Southchurch Road. Miraculously, however, both youngsters escaped serious injury.
An Essex Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We attended the scene where the two children had been in collision with a car and they were taken to Southend Hospital."
