Nearly 1,000 homes and businesses in west Braintree were blacked out by a huge power cut today
About 990 24seven customers were affected by the power failure, which happened at about 7.15am.
CD's Sandwich Bar in Sandpit Lane, which opens at 7.30am, said it lost its breakfast trade because of the blackout
But power was restored to it by 9am.
Some other properties were reconnected by 8.50am with the remainder back on by 9.30am.
It was caused by a high voltage fault with overhead lines and the power company rerouted the supply to restore power as quickly as possible.
A spokeswoman for 24seven said staff had been switching and rerouting supplies to reconnect customers as soon as possible and the power was brought back on in stages.
