Residents in south Essex have been sensationally snubbed by Government officials carrying out a consultation into the proposed Cliffe airport, it was claimed today.
Information packs have been sent to every home in Kent affected by the four-runway, £11.5billion scheme - but not one pack has been sent to any resident in Essex.
Bob Spink, MP for Castle Point, today branded the Government "arrogant" and launched a petition against the project.
Hundreds of signatures have already flooded in.
It marks the first occasion Mr Spink has publicly opposed the airport, one of several options put forward by the Government to handle swelling numbers of air passengers.
He also claimed Hadleigh, Canvey, Leigh and Rayleigh would undoubtedly be blighted by aircraft noise at night - because a cross-wind runway would be built specifically for night flights.
Mr Spink is due to speak at a meeting of protesters in Kent on Thursday and will attend a public meeting at 8pm on September 12, in the Paddocks in Long Road, Canvey.
