A woman stole cheese from a Southend supermarket for a prank when she was seen by store workers.
Southend magistrates heard how Nina Stebbeds, 44, from Rochford, put a lump of cheese, worth just £2.15, down her trousers for a joke when she and her partner noticed they were being followed by store staff at a Lidl store in Southend.
Staff stopped the pair and Stebbeds denied she had stolen anything, but then the cheese fell out of her trousers. Stebbeds admitted shoplifting and received a 12 month conditional discharge.
