Bishop's Stortford secured a well deserved point in their first match back in the Ryman Premier.

After last season's successful promotion campaign, hopes are high for the Essex side, and they gave a good account of themselves against a strong Bedford line-up. Stortford had former FA Cup semi-finalist Roy Essandoh making his debut after signing from Cambridge City, and he was soon into the action, heading over from close range.

Freddie Hyatt then went close with a rasping 25-yard drive that was well dealt with by Steve Wilson.

Against the run of play Bedford went in front when Alex Riches was somewhat harshly adjudged to have handled in the box. Kevin Slinn slotted home confidently.

Stortford continued to press in the second half, and got their reward with on 67 minutes as Rob French found space to fire home.

A well-earned point for Stortford who are straight back into action on Tuesday night when they travel to Essex rivals and title favourites Canvey Island.
