New signs, costing £2,000, could go up in an area of Colchester to welcome visitors.
Members of Myland Parish Council are hoping to get six new signs put up at entry points into the parish.
It is hoped the new signs can be made attractive, with flowers on them, and carry an additional message telling people careful motorists are welcome there.
At present, the signs are simple white ones with "Myland" written on them. In the case of the A134 entrance to the parish, the sign is bolted on next to a speed camera sign.
John Tupper, of Colchester Council's street services department, has been called on to help draw up possible designs for the project
