Major improvements are on the cards after healthcare services in Tendring today received a massive financial boost.
The cash injection will help with plans for the redevelopment of Dovercourt Health Centre and Harwich Hospital.
More than £40 million could be split between Tendring and Colchester Primary Care Trusts (PCT) over the next ten years thanks to a successful funding application.
The Trusts jointly applied to the Department of Health for the money under the recently introduced NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust (Lift) initiative
Their success means plans can be finalised for huge advancements to primary care services across the area.
These will involve the creation of new primary care centres and improvements to existing health centres and community hospitals.
Paul Unsworth, chief executive of Tendring PCT, said: "The funding from this initiative will allow us to modernise primary healthcare premises in Tendring and accelerate the re-development of Dovercourt Health Centre and Harwich Hospital."
