Two women shop workers were tied up with ropes and threatened with knives, while robbers stole more than £6,000 from the safe.
Three men, two of them masked, walked in to Lidl, in Manor Road, Laindon, yesterday and forced the two 24-year-olds into the store room and demanded one of them open the safe.
One of the women freed herself and raised the alarm.
