Jack Spong, who was killed while surfing in Cornwall, will be laid to rest in the county as he "loved the sea".
Jack, 22, originally from Westleigh Avenue, Leigh, disappeared after surfing with two friends at Hayle beach, near St Ives, where they intended to camp for the night.
Jack was last seen at about midnight on Wednesday, July 31, when his friends went to sleep.
A family member, Pauline Spong, said: "Jack loved the sea and Cornwall was his home. His great love was surfing. He went all over the place with friends to surf.
"We will have the funeral here and will not be returning to Leigh."
After a massive air-sea search, Jack's body was found about a week after he went missing by a member of public at Godrevey Towans, a beach near to where he disappeared.
