Disappointed organisers of the Witham horticultural summer show are calling for more entries after a steep decline in exhibits this year.
On Saturday, the show, which is organised annually by the Witham Horticultural Society, only had 34 people exhibiting with just 160 exhibits compared to 360 last year.
The show features displays of flowers, food, vegetables and preserves and competitions for the best in each category.
Chairman David Jepson said: "We are trying to encourage more members next year. I think people are put off entering the competition because they think they won't win it first time, but unless they try they won't know."
If you are interested in joining the society, contact Vera Rudkin, membership officer, on 01376 514112.
