Valuable paintings by famous artists have been found hanging on the walls at Basildon's council offices.
An expert from auction house Christie's was due at the Basildon Centre today to examine more than 60 works of art and value them.
The first piece of artwork was discovered by Peter Patterson, a trustee on the Basildon Arts Council, as he walked through the offices.
It is not clear how the paintings came into the council's possession.
