Basildon's newest shopping centre is to undergo widespread repairs just three years after it opened.
Workmen are due to move onto the Westgate Shopping Park site, in Roundacre, on Monday to carry out repairs to much of the complex.
Work will be carried out to the roof, car parks, drainage system, main staircases and lift and will take up to three months to complete, said a spokesman for the landlords.
The work, described as "very necessary", will entail part of the car parks being closed for a month but shoppers have been reassured that any inconvenience will be kept to "an absolute minimum".
Westgate spokeswoman Helen Harris said: "Obviously there is going to be an impact on customers but this will only be on the site itself and the noise will be minimal."
