An action group is being formed by motorists who have fallen victim of a controversial clamping scheme.

It is being set up by one furious driver, Stephen Munro.

He had to hand over £70 to release a clamp after parking for just a couple of minutes in a spot frequently used for public parking in the past.

He wants to challenge the scheme's legality and says the best chance for motorists is to unite for a joint action.

Residents of Peartree Close, South Ockendon, called in a Romford clamping firm because they were tired of people parking on private land outside their homes, leaving no room for their own cars.
