Cadets at Rochford Hundred have discovered the latest craze from America suits them to a tee.
Snag Golf is designed to get youngsters playing the sport and uses colourful equipment.
Low-compression tennis balls are hit with giant club at targets covered in velcro.
And Snag Golf is proving to be a hit not only with the cadets, but with adults too.
"I'm using Snag Golf with our cadets as part of their coaching sessions and it is really popular," said club pro Graham Hill.
"Apart from being fun, Snag Golf is a lot safer for children. My four-year-old daughter uses it because the clubs are not too heavy for her.
"It can be used by children in their gardens or in the park and is an ideal way of introducing youngsters to golf."
The balls travel around 40 yards and there are various games that can be played.
One involves Graham dressing in a velcro jacket and having cadets hit balls at him with the aim of getting them to stick to him.
