Southend United have taken 21-year-old centre-half Thomas Jordan on trial.
The 6ft 4ins tall defender, who is the son of former Scottish international striker Joe Jordan, has been released by Bristol City and linked up with Blues yesterday.
And he put in an impressive performance at the heart of Southend's defence as the reserves opened their Avon Insurance Combination League campaign with a 0-0 draw at Brighton last night.
"Thomas did very well and will continue to train with us," said Blues boss Rob Newman, who played under Jordan senior at Ashton Gate.
"He has spent most of the summer on trial at Exeter City, playing in a few of their pre-season matches.
"I thought he looked very strong for us in defence at Brighton and would like to see him again in our next reserve match."
