India have already put more than 100 runs on the board for only one wicket in their four-day match against Essex at Chelmsford.
The tourists made 104-1 by lunch today at the County Ground after winning the toss and electing to bat.
The only Indian wicket to fall so far is that of Sanjay Banger who was bowled by James Middlebrook for 21.
At the crease currently are Shiv Das on 43 and Virender Sehwag on 36
India will be looking to have a good workout before their next encounter with England after drawing the Second Test earlier in the week.
