A historic wall in Colchester is being ruined by vandals.
The landmark, listed by English Heritage as part of a national monument, could soon be beyond repair.
It is in Priory Street and residents are demanding action is taken to protect it.
Peter McCarthy, 29 is disgusted with the mindless attacks on the brickwork, dating back to at least the 18th century.
"I have seen kids tearing out six or seven bricks at a time from the wall, and bashing it about.
"It's irreplaceable and no-one seems to have the budget or resources to do anything about it," he said.
Steve Collis, landscape contracts officer at Colchester Council agreed there was a problem and council officials were looking into the options.
"It is a listed area and we are looking at the feasibility and cost of repairs on this wall."
