Twelve cockerels have been dumped over a fence into an animal centre.
Eight have been captured, one was killed and eaten by a fox and the remaining three are still at large.
Maureen Taylor, co-owner of Mistley Place Park, has now appealed to people to tell her or her husband Mike if they want to give up an animal and not just abandon it.
She said the cockerels appeared on Saturday evening.
Mrs Taylor explained the park had a manure site where residents could help themselves and she had seen a car pull up and the occupant get out with a bag, which she presumed was to collect the manure.
Minutes later, she spotted the cockerels, which had been thrown over a fence and on to her land.
She said: "We have been climbing trees at 3am trying to catch them, we can't catch them but the foxes can, it's like signing a death warrant."
