Wickford's main food store is set to close for up to three weeks for a massive refit.
The refurbishment will shut the Somerfield store for most of October, but bosses say they are still working out final details. The news comes as the Co-op food store in the Willows centre is set to close at the end of August.
It will then only leave the Iceland store in the town's High Street and the discount store Aldi, near the rail station.
A store spokeswoman said: "We expect the store to be relaunched on about November 13."
