No evidence was offered against a Chelmsford man who denied an offence of robbery.
Dean Toner, 20, of Crompton Street, Chelmsford, denied robbing Christian Fowler of £223 on May 4, this year.
Valerie Charbitt, prosecuting at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday said police had been unable to trace Mr Fowler, the alleged victim. Neighbours had not seen him for weeks and his parents had no contact with him.
She said that in the circumstances she would offer no evidence.
Recorder Henry Green QC entered a formal verdict of not guilty and Mr Toner was discharged.
