Colchester United hero Thomas Pinault has said he wants to shoot the U's to more glory.

He hit a thrilling opening-day match-winner to sink ten-man Stockport County.

The skilful 20-year-old French midfielder, more renowned for his passing than shooting, struck a 58th-minute, 25-yard blockbuster to fire the U's off to a winning start for the second season running.

It was only Pinault's second goal in three years with the Layer Road club, following his similar sizzler in a 3-0 win at Luton in December 2000.

Now the talented former Cannes ball-player wants to experience the thrill of scoring again and again.

He said: "I wasn't bothered with setting myself any kind of target this season.

"But I enjoyed scoring the winner so much on Saturday that a half-a-dozen more goals before Christmas would be great.

"My game is more about passing and scoring more goals is a quality I would love to add to it."
