Basildon Rugby Club enjoyed some home success when they hosted their second annual ten-a-side tournament -- but it was neighbours Southend who took the main spoils.
Basildon seconds were the victors in the plate final for the semi-final losers after beating Millwall 27-25 in the closing minutes of a thriller.
In the actual final, Southend won the tournament for the second year in a row by defeating Romford 26-12.
There were six teams in the competition, which took place in sunshine after earlier rain, and games were played ten minutes each way.
Spokesman Vicki Wells said: "The day was fantastic. Not even the weather could dampen the spirits and ruin the fun had by all."
